CGLOPS Lakes

The CGLOPS lakes where it has been attempted to retrieve LSWTs are in total 2,024 and they belong to the world's largest, according to the Global Lakes and Wetlands Database or are otherwise of specfic environmental monitoring interest. They have been selected within the ESA CCI Lakes project. The maximum distance to land is reported for each lake since it provides an estimate of the lake's detactability by an observing instrument. The instruments used for the CGLOPS LSWT have 1km resolution. Lakes with maximum distance to land less than 1km are very likely not suitable for LSWT retrieval with 1km resolution instruments.

The location of each of the 2,024 CGLOPS lakes is shown in the map below (the icon in the map is positioned at the lake centre). Clicking on each location provides additional information and the table has been designed to interact with the map and viceversa.
